Photovoltaics
Quartz glass is among the preferred materials used in the production of first-generation solar cells. It is used for industrial silicon production as well as for the further processing of silicon wafers into solar cells. Quartz glass components are also used for the manufacture of second-generation solar panels, i.e. thin film technologies.

Solar thermal systems
As solar thermal systems use sunlight to create heat, here the optical properties of quartz glass are in particular required.
